If you’re shopping for a new guitar amplifiers then Marshall are a great brand to look at. The have tonnes of choice to suit different requirements and budgets, but they’re range is so large that it can be difficult to work out how much you need to spend to get the type of amplifier you need. In this article, I’ll compare the prices of the different amplifiers in Marshall’s range so you can get a good idea of the models which fit into your budget.
The Quick Answer
Marshall guitar amps cost between $125 and $3800 on average. Starter amps typically range between $125 and $200, and solid state amps with more features and power range between $200 and $450. Marshall tube combo amps range between $500 and $3800, and head units between $450 and $3800.

Types of Amplifier
The cost of a Marshall amplifier is affected by the type, features and power rating primarily.
The first thing you’ll need to do is to decide if you want a combo or a stack setup. A stack setup is when the cabinet (speaker) and amp are separate units, and a combo amp is when this comes as an all-in-one unit. If you are unsure which option is best for you, take a look at my comparison between combo and stack amps to get your answer.
Next, you’ll need to decide if you want a tube (valve) amp, or a solid state amp. Solid state amps are cheaper, lighter and more versatile but many players prefer the warmer and richer tone of a tube amp. If you haven’t already figured out which type is best for you, then check out my comparison between tube and solid state amplifiers to learn about all the pros and cons.
Finally, it’s good to have an idea of how much power you need (wattage). I’ve also written a guide to wattage and how loud an amp needs to be for certain locations to help you narrow down your selection.
The rest of this article will take you through the different types of amplifier and how much the Marshall versions cost. To make things easier, it’s split into the following sections so you can skip to the right one:
- Starter Amps
- Solid State Combo Amps

- Cabinets
In each section, I’ll provide an overview of each model available and a table to show you the average price of each of them at the time of writing.
