About Me

Hey, I’m Heather, the person behind Pro Sound HQ. I’ve created this website to help answer as many guitar related questions as I can, using the things I’ve learnt over the past 15 years.

When did you start playing the guitar?

I was given my first electric guitar for my birthday back in 2005, a Squier Stratocaster, in candy apple red, with a Marshall MG15G starter amplifier.

I’d wanted an electric guitar for a long time, but when I was given one, I didn’t really have a clue what I was doing. The learning process was slow and painful, to the point where I ended up putting the guitar down for quite a few years where it basically just acted as a cool looking ornament in my room.

It collected some dust for a while, until I picked it back up again around 15 years ago and learned how to play using online lessons.

I have since upgraded my guitars, and added to my collection which now includes more amplifiers, and some pedal effects too. If you’re interested in the gear I currently use, then check out my recommended gear page.

Why did you create this website?

Since I started learning to play the guitar, I’ve had tonnes of questions, and although there are loads of resources out there to help you actually learn to play, I still don’t think there’s all that much info on the rest of the stuff that comes with playing the guitar. Things like, amp settings, pickups types, pedal effects etc.

I personally found it quite hard to figure out the answers to a lot of questions that most guitarists end up asking when they start getting into playing a bit more. So, I created this website to help solve this issue.

What will I find on the website?

If you check out my blog, you’ll find answers to plenty of different questions that you’ve probably wondered about since you started playing. My aim is to address specific issues you may be having surrounding getting a good tone or about a piece of equipment.

I didn’t want this blog to just be another “top ten” product review website, but instead I recommend products that I’ve actually used in the past, or use currently. So if you check out my recommended gear page to find some products that I think are super high quality and really useful.

I really hope that you find this blog helpful, and that it helps solve some of the problems you’re having whilst learning. Thanks for visiting!
